As an intro to VFX and Adobe After Effects, today we started by trying out double exposure. This is the process of masking an image over the top of another image, essentially merging them. Look below for an example of this

In After Effects, We would do this by inserting the image you want to layer something over, which would be the man for the picture above. For my image, i decided to use Link from Breath of the Wild.
I started off with this image, then cut around Link using the pen tool to end up without a background.

From here, i inserted my background that i would be layering over him, seen below.

From here, I then applied an alpha matte to the above image and ended up with this. 
Now i can add Link back and blend the images together to make a nice fading effect. This is as simple as duplicating the image of Link without the background, applying a mask to the part i want to be faded and then changing the mask to intersect. I also did the same for a flower called the Silent Princess and positioned this on my image too. Here is my finished image.
